Bernbern 2

Chewing on his favorite toy.

These days, my precious keeps himself [and myself] entertained by going round and round in circles. Every night, he will drag his food bowl to the middle of the cage and run around the food bowl in circles.

Uber cute.

Papa asked me to call him Round Round instead of bernbern.

I really want to get another chinchilla as a playmate for bernbern but he's still sick and I don't want to run the risk of infecting the new chin. Its been 6 months and and he still has not recovered.

I've asked myself this question so many times... "Will my lil furball ever get well?"

I have no answer. Neither does Dr Hsu.

I will never give up on you, don't give up ok? Fight with me baby, fight this illness with me. We must win this bad illness ok?

Knowing my excitment about the upcoming New Moon, Bern tried to booked the Gold Class tix to bring me to watch but its all sold out. So early!! Unbelievable.

Anyway, its sweet of him to take the initiative to try to book the tix even thou he didn't manage to get them in the end.

Got this from Jessica which I think is really nice :)

I can start breathing now

Bern @ escalator
I'm way behind in my blog posts. Its been a mad rush at work trying to launch of my new website, radio ads production, marketing collaterals, print ads yada yada all before I go for my leave and I'm so glad I managed to get everything done in time for me to go on leave in peace.

Now I can finally slow down a bit and breathe a little before the madness starts again next week.

Bern was really sweet and cooked dinner for me 3 weeks ago cos' I was so stressed up and overworked. (Yup, it takes me 3 weeks to blog, I think I should be able to blog about my Hong Kong trip by next year.)

Talking about Hong Kong, omg, omg, omg. I don't wanna come back SG. The weather was so nice, a chilling 10-16 degrees and we really shopped till our legs dropped.

Enough of digression, back to the dinner :)

My man sure can cook.

He prepared a plate of chips for me to munch on while he cooked. He refused to let me stepped into the kitchen and whipped out a delicious meal of pasta with tiger prawns and scallops and added in meatballs from Ikea. He made mushroom soup and baked escargots for appetitiser.

I was really impressed by the spread and he refused to let me help to wash up after dinner.

Bern @ escalator
What will I do if you are not there to chase away my Monday blues?

This morning after Bern dropped me off at work, he went to buy nasi lemak from Adam Road for my breakfast and delivered it to my office. I didn't have time to eat it for breakfast so I kept it for lunch.

My heart melted when I opened the box.

Knowing that I don't eat egg white, he took out the egg white for me! And he got all my favorites for me. Yum.

*melts* So sweet.

Ok, now I'm wondering where did the egg white go? Into his stomach? Did he take out the egg white in the car or at the stall?

i_believe
10 yrs ago, i read the news from the papers.

5 yrs ago, i do away with newspaper subscriptions & read the news online cos that's more convenient & saves a lot more time.

Today, i still read the news online. Difference is, I read them off Twitter. The 140 words summary is really a time-saver when i just need to keep myself updated without having to sieve through the clutter.

Have i gotten so busy over the years that i can't even sit down proper to read the news or am i missing the greater picture in life?

I used to have 24 hrs a day. I still have 24 hrs a day. The difference lies in, my energy used to last me much longer.

Bad mood can boost memory

Bad mood can boost memory

SYDNEY - BAD moods can actually be good for you, with an Australian study finding that being sad make people less gullible, improves their ability to judge others and also boosts memory.

The study, authored by psychology professor Joseph Forgas at the University of New South Wales, showed that people in a negative mood were more critical of, and paid more attention to, their surroundings than happier people, who were more likely to believe anything they were told.

'Whereas positive mood seems to promote creativity, flexibility, cooperation, and reliance on mental shortcuts, negative moods trigger more attentive, careful thinking paying greater attention to the external world,' Forgas wrote. 'Our research suggests that sadness ... promotes information processing strategies best suited to dealing with more demanding situations.'

For the study, Forgas and his team conducted several experiments that started with inducing happy or sad moods in their subjects through watching films and recalling positive or negative events.

In one of the experiments, happy and sad participants were asked to judge the truth of urban myths and rumours and found that people in a negative mood were less likely to believe these statements. People in a bad mood were also less likely to make snap decisions based on racial or religious prejudices, and they were less likely to make mistakes when asked to recall an event that they witnessed.

The study also found that sad people were better at stating their case through written arguments, which Forgas said showed that a 'mildly negative mood may actually promote a more concrete, accommodative and ultimately more successful communication style.' -- REUTERS

♥ Fridays

Great wall
Oh how I <3 Fridays. My favorite day of the week.

I'm in a really good mood today. Couple of things to rejoice about:

1. Bernbern's diarrhea finally went away last night. I no longer have to clean up the mess when he stepped all over his loose stools.

2. Its paktor night later & we'll be going shopping for bernbern's food & toys

3. I'm slowly but surely clearing my long list of to-dos at work. Things are really insane. At least now I've cleared 80% of the website content and the FA for my print ads is FINALLY out.

4. 16 more days to HK! (bern's asking for trouble by bringing me to HK... muahahha)

5. TY's rom & my dearest cousin's baby full month on Sunday (I bought a really cute set of baby clothes for my lil niece, I hope she can fit!)

6. I think we are finally going to watch movie tomorrow. Haha. Any nice shows lately? I'm so out of touched.

And I'm satisfying my craving later! I don't know about you, but I get craving for instant noodles once in a blue moon. I would much prefer Indomee Mee Goreng, but I can't cook that at work, so looks like I have to make do with this...

Lunch later... Yums.

Hopefully all these can cheer me up when I have to reach Hilton Hotel at 7am to help out with one of the graduation ceremonies. Gah!

Bern remembered that I finished my mints and bought another pack for me. Little gesture like this does brighten up the day. :)

18 days to the trip. I can survive this.

I'm so tired. And the next 2 weekends are burnt.

Shingz.

Stubborn chin

Bernbern 2
I'm at my wits end.

How do you deal with a stubborn rodent?

Bernbern has diarrhea since Saturday. Brought him down to Dr Hsu on Monday to get hisdiarrhea and ears checked because there's blood clot inside.

Dr Hsu said to let the diarrhea go away by itself. Usually it does go away by itself after 2 days but this round, it has stretched to more than 4 days already.

Last night, I took out all the pellets from his tray and left only hay for him to it as the hay is supposed to help clear the diarrhea.

This morning, I found the food bowl rearranged, all the hay on the floor and HALF the cat litter on the floor. Since he has nothing to eat except the hay, he dug out the cat litter hoping to find other food. He just refuses to eat the hay. How stubborn can he get?

And his ear infection is still not ok..... its been 5 months already. We've tried 4 types of antibiotics, 2 types of ear drops, sent the pus to the lab for cultivation... basically we have done all except to operate on him and nothing works.

Sigh.

Dinner at Hill Top

bern 2

We pigged out on Sat night at Hill Top. We filled a 4 seater table with food. I'm not sure how we managed to finish all these food and polished off 5 bottles of Sake, went home and had Haagen Daz ice-cream and some more Sake.

I can't see my toes anymore. :(

As Bern always said, "What's the difference between us and pigs?" and I'll always reply, "We are cuter than pigs."

What consolation.

I realised I've been neglecting my LJ and is updating FB more frequently than LJ - its less time consuming to write one-liners compared to an entry.

I had another crabby weekend. For the first time, I had such big Alaska crabs, the thickness of its legs are about 3 of my fingers size.

Butter cream Alaska crab - Long Beach @ Dempsey

That was just half of the crab.....

Here's the other half...

In black pepper sauce

The butter cream crab is soooooooooo shiok.

Bern's parents brought hairy crabs (da za xie) back for me from Hohhot, quite a rarity in SG. Hardly can find restaurants that serve this. The meat is so fresh and its full of roe. I still can't figure out why they call this hairy crab when, you know, its not, that hairy afterall.

Kopi-O xiu dai, Teh-O kosong

On days when Bern has lessons in school, we'll go to the cafeteria to get our morning caffeine fix together and we always ordered the same standard drink. Him, kopi-o xiu dai. Me, teh-o kosong.

Today I went down to the cafeteria to get my tea and the drinks stall auntie asked me "Kopi-O never come ar?"

Previously when I was on MC, the auntie asked Bern "Teh-o kosong never come ar?"

Hurhur.

Maybe I should change my name to Teh-o kosong ;p

******************************************************************************

Its been a crazy October, with so many campaigns to roll out, I'm really up to my eyeballs with work.

Time flies, and in 2 months plus, 2009 is going to end. Wow. I'm thinking how to survive the next 2 months. Its going to be peak period at work.

Year end is usually celebration time, you are darn right. I have 4 upcoming weddings to attend. I'm so happy for my friends. I just hope I can survive them =/

Been racking my brains on how to celebrate Bern's birthday as well - I termed it Project B.O.

Am definitely looking forward to the trip in Nov. Lets hope the travel agency can come back to us with good news on the accomodation.

Cupcakes!

My first attempt at making cupcakes ended with out-of-shape cupcakes. My mum laughed at my cupcakes. :(

The 2nd attempt got better...

I really need to brush up on my icing skills... =/

Not a bad attempt I would say, for someone who hates baking.

[LJ2ME] Raisins

Bernbern 2
There were 3 raisins in the spoon. I never expected bernbern to take all 3. He bit one with his mouth and held 1 in each hand.

All the raisins were gone from the spoon in less than 1 sec.

My lil glutton.

If only he eats his medicine as enthusiatically as his raisin.

Pains me so much to see him struggle so hard when i feed him medicine. I'm so afraid one day i might injured him while trying to hold him down to feed him his medicine. :(

Its been more than 4 months... And everyday i hope for the same thing... Get well soon baby.
